We utilize over 40 years of engineering knowledge and experience to design and manufacture heavy duty hydraulic bar shears to demanding cut tolerances and specifications.
AMD Hydraulic Bar and Billet Shears are offered in both two post shear and four post shear designs optimized to specific process requirements. The two post bar shear designs can be used in hot shear and cold shear applications. Optional integrated induction heating systems are available for two and four post bar and billet shears to eliminate stress cracks in cut material.
The patented hydraulic circuitry that controls the Back Support and Direct Acting Hold Down System provides the best quality shear cut available, eliminates “bar slap” and results in longer knife life. These features are offered on both the two post shear and four post shear designs. Two post hydraulic billet shears also feature quick change tooling, knife blade gap adjustment with digital readout, and a smaller footprint.
The unique design of the heavy duty tool assembly allows for quick tool change and prevents scale build up in knife pockets. This knife design also provides for the cutting of special shapes and heavy structural profiles. Our tooling manipulator option eliminates any heavy lifting, making knife changes quick, safe and easy.
AMD Hydraulic Bar and Billet Shears offer distinct advantages over other bar shear designs. The hydraulic ram construction eliminates clutches, brakes, eccentrics and gear trains. The design eliminates machine overload that occurs on other bar shear designs. This results in less downtime for maintenance and repair.
Shear Machinery Types:
The AMD Hydraulic Bar Shears offer major advantages over saw systems. One bar shear out produces 5 saw systems with no associated loss of material due to kerf (chips) of the saw blade. Additionally, running costs of bar shears are significantly less by not requiring regular blade changes and reduction in utility costs for comparable production.
Advanced Machine Design offers a complete line of standard Material Handling Equipment or customized systems designed and engineered to meet specific needs. By utilizing a modular concept, AMD is able to provide a totally automated bar shear system specifically tailored to the customers’ needs. The modular concept also allows the bar shear system to grow, as the customer’s needs grow.
